Biography

From the skateboard parks of Southern California to the fashion runways of Europe, Mark Anthony’s influence on culture through hair styling has been felt around the word for over 20 years.

Mark Anthony got started cutting hair in the earyly 1980’s with his skateboard crew, listening to punk rock music in southern California. “It was being rebellious,” he said. Seing the powerful statement and transformation a haircut could make, Mark was instantly hooked.

Finding his calling Mark Anthony enrolled in beauty school and fell in love with the art of cutting and styling hair. Greatly inspired by several Toni & Guy seminars, Mark Anthony packed-up and moved to Dallas to join Tony & Guy for a two-year apprenticeship that proved to be a perfect foundation in precision cutting.

Driven and inspired to pursue his dream, Mark Anthony purchased a one-way ticket to New York City and never looked back. After only one year working under the legendary stylist Oribe, Mark Anthony was named Rising Star Hairdresser in 1993 by Allure magazine.

Mark Anthony stayed with Oribe for nine years working in the Oribe salon and numerous fashion shows around the globe. Mark has worked on shows including Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Fendi, Versace, Tuleh and Donna Karen in New York and Milan.

These years of styling with Oribe were invaluable, and to continue his growth and complement his current techniques Mark Anthony wanted to learn classic hairdressing. He then studied under the legendary master Garren of New York for three years. Having Garren’s confidence and years of experience created a perfect springboard for Mark Anthony to finaly set out on his own.
